Manage or leave a group chat
Every group chat has one owner: the member who created it. The owner can change the group; other participants can review its members and leave it.
Change a group chat
As the group owner:
- Select the paper-plane Messenger button in the top navigation.
- Select the group chat in the chat list.
- Select the gear button in the chat header.
- Change the group image or Group name, add members with the person-plus button, or remove a member with the trash button.
- Select Save.
Only the group owner sees these editing controls. The owner cannot leave the group through this view.
Leave a group chat
If you are not the owner:
- Open Messenger and select the group chat.
- Select the gear button.
- Select Leave and confirm.
Leaving removes the conversation from your chat list and removes you from its participants.
If new messages do not appear automatically
Reload the page once. If that shows messages that were previously missing, try the chat on another network or device when possible. A managed company network, firewall, or browser extension can interfere with how Messenger updates.
If messages still do not load or send, contact your community's support contact with the approximate time, device, browser, and whether the same problem occurs on another network. Do not send passwords, sign-in codes, or other credentials.
