Search for content and members

The general search helps you find information across the community without browsing each area separately. Results only include content you are allowed to see.

Search on the web​

  1. Select the search field in the top navigation.
  2. Enter a name or keyword.
  3. Press Enter or wait for the search-results view to open.
  4. Select All, Posts, Events, Members, Pages, or, when the community uses the market, Market items to narrow the list. You can select more than one type.
  5. Select a result to open it. On a member result, select Message to start a direct chat instead.

Search in the mobile app​

  1. Select the search icon in the top navigation.
  2. Enter a name or keyword in the search field.
  3. Use the same content-type buttons to narrow the results.
  4. Select the result you want to open.

What appears in results​

The current general search can return:

  • posts;
  • events;
  • member profiles;
  • pages;
  • market items, when the market is enabled.

Search respects the signed-in member's access. For example, a private page is not exposed to someone who is not a page member, and hidden or otherwise inaccessible content is not shown. Admin-only management searches can therefore differ from the general search described here.

If a new item is missing​

New or changed content may take a few minutes to become searchable. Wait briefly, then repeat the search using a word from the item's title, description, or profile name.

If it is still missing:

  1. Clear the type filters by selecting All.
  2. Try a shorter or alternative keyword.
  3. Open the item directly and confirm that it is published and visible to your account.
  4. Ask another intended viewer to search for it. If neither account can find a published item after several minutes, contact your community's support contact with the item link and search term.

Search visibility does not override the item's own access settings. Making a private item searchable would expose it to the wrong audience, so inaccessible items intentionally remain absent.

Browse suggested content​

When coapp has at least five recommendations, Suggested content appears in the main feed with pages and events that may be relevant to you. Scroll horizontally through the cards, select a card to open it, or select Refresh for another set. The section may be absent when there are not enough suggestions.
