Create a page with exclusive content

A page with exclusive content lets every community member discover the page and see its introduction. Content below the exclusive-content divider is available only to members with one of the required membership plans.

This page type works well for courses, member areas, protected resources, and page updates intended for selected memberships. Only community admins can select this page type and its required plans.

Create the page

Use any available page-creation entry point:

  • In the web app's top navigation, select the + button (labelled Create when you point to it), then select Page.
  • In the mobile app or on a smaller screen, select the floating + button in the bottom-right corner, then select Page.
  • Open My pages or the destination channel and select Create. On a smaller screen, select the + button beside the heading.

In Create page:

  1. Enter the page name under Title.
  2. Select the destination Channel.
  3. Under How would you like to use this page?, select Page with exclusive content.
  4. Under Required membership plan, select one or more plans that include access.
  5. Under How can other members join?, choose the joining option for page contributors.
  6. Select Create.

The page is visible and discoverable by all community members. Selecting a required plan controls access to protected content; it does not make the whole page private.

Select at least one plan so eligible members have an available way to unlock the page. The unlock view offers only selected plans that are active and visible. If none are available, a member without access is prompted to contact a page owner.

Choose where exclusive content begins

The new page contains a divider labelled Exclusive content starts below. It cannot be deleted while the page uses exclusive content.

  1. Add content sections as described in Add content, links, and files to a page.
  2. Use the up- and down-arrow buttons on the sections and divider to position them.
  3. Place introductory sections that everyone should see above Exclusive content starts below.
  4. Place protected sections below the divider.

For a newly created page, the divider initially appears before any content sections. Add a section and move it above the divider when it should be part of the public introduction.

Links, page files, tags or topics, and the page's Posts feed are also hidden in the locked view. Page posts stay in the page-specific feed and cannot also be published to the main community feed.

Check the locked view

As an owner or admin, open the page and select Preview as Member. The preview shows the public introduction, the exclusive-content divider, and the locked-content prompt. It hides protected sections, page posts, links, files, and tags or topics.

Select Close Preview to return to the management view.

Give selected people access manually

A page owner can select Add member, search for specific community members, and select Save. A manually added person becomes a contributor, can access the protected page content, and can publish page posts without selecting one of the required membership plans.

This is useful for co-organizers, instructors, moderators, or selected participants who should contribute to the page. It is not suitable for read-only exceptions because Add member assigns contribution permissions. For complete steps and role management, see Manage page members, roles, joining, and following.

Change an existing page

  1. Open the page.
  2. Select the visibility button at the top or the pencil button.
  3. Under How would you like to use this page?, select Page with exclusive content.
  4. Select one or more plans under Required membership plan.
  5. Select Save.
  6. Position the automatically added divider between the public and protected sections.

Changing the page to Private page or Community page removes the divider. The other content sections remain on the page and are then governed by the newly selected page visibility.
