Notifications in coapp
Notifications help you follow activity that is relevant to your content, conversations, events, pages, and role. Depending on the activity, coapp can notify you in three ways:
| Channel | Where it appears |
|---|---|
| In-app | In the notification center behind the bell button |
| Push | As a device notification from the coapp mobile app, when allowed on the device |
| At the email address connected to your account |
You control the available channels separately for each type of activity. A channel that is not available for a particular activity appears disabled in the settings.
Open the notification center
- Select the bell button in the top navigation. A badge indicates new activity.
- Select a notification to open the associated content.
- To clear the unread state for the list, select Mark all as read.
Select the gear button in the notification center to open Notification preferences.
Understand notification badges in the mobile app
The bell badge appears inside coapp and indicates unread activity in the notification center. It is separate from the coapp app icon on your phone's Home Screen.
The current coapp mobile app does not show a number for unread notifications on its app icon. You can therefore receive push notifications and see a badge on the bell inside coapp without seeing a red number on the app icon. This is expected and does not indicate a problem with your notification settings.
Some Android launchers may show a system-provided dot for an active device notification. This is not a coapp unread-notification count.
Activities that can notify members
Members can configure notifications for:
- new posts and pages;
- comments and mentions on posts or comments;
- reactions to posts or comments;
- comments on posts they interacted with;
- event reminders, attendee changes, event updates, and being added as an organizer;
- new page followers, being added as a page owner or contributor, and posts on followed pages;
- interest in their market items, when the market is enabled;
- announcements, new messages, and suggested content.
Receiving a notification does not change access to the linked content. If your access has since changed or the content was deleted, the destination may no longer open.
Additional notifications for admins
Admins see a separate Me as an admin section. Depending on the activity, it includes membership-plan changes, new members and approval requests, and member-created posts, pages, events, page updates, or market items. Some administrative activities are available by email only.
The notification is sent only to people affected by an activity or included by its rule. For example, a reply can notify participants in that discussion, while a page update can notify followers. Not every community member receives every notification.
