Add event content, organizers, and updates
Clear event content helps members understand why an event matters and how they can take part. Multiple organizers can share responsibility for keeping the information current, while event updates keep confirmed attendees connected around the activity.
The initial event form contains the essential details such as title, date, location, and participation method. After saving it, coapp opens the event detail view. To return to an existing event, open My events, then open the event. Creators, organizers, and admins see additional controls there for building and managing the event; regular visitors do not see these controls.
Build the event description with content sections
A content section is a block in the event description. Combine sections to present information in the order visitors should read it. Available section types are:
- Text Section
- Image Section
- Video Section
- Podcast / Audio Section
- Code Section for admins
You can also add a header image and attach files with Add File. Files are attachments rather than content sections.
Understand who can see event content
| Event element | Who can see it |
|---|---|
| Title, date, physical location, organizers, tags, and content sections | Everyone when the event is Public; signed-in community members when it is Community Only. A Draft is hidden from regular visitors and members. |
| Online link for an online or hybrid event | Attendees and organizers. Other viewers see that the link is available to attendees. The link is also hidden in Preview as Member. |
| Event updates | Attendees, the creator, organizers, and admins. They are not part of the public event description. |
| Editing and management controls | The creator, organizers, and admins with event-management access. |
The publishing status applies to all regular content sections. For example, a video section in a public event is public even if only an admin was allowed to add that section type.
Add organizers
Use Add organizers to search for community members and give them organizer access. Organizers can edit the event and publish event updates. Only the creator can remove another organizer in participant management.
Publish updates for attendees
For the creator and organizers, the event detail view includes a post composer for event updates. An update published there stays in the event-specific feed; it is not automatically published in the main community feed. Leaving an RSVP event removes that event's updates from the former attendee's view.
To promote the event in the main community feed, use the event's Share action and select Post.
