Choose RSVP, tickets, or external registration
The right participation method makes it easier for people to join in the way that fits the activity. A simple RSVP supports open community meetups, ticket types organize limited or paid attendance, and an external link connects an event to a registration process used elsewhere.
While creating an event, open the event-creation form from any available entry point, then continue to the participation options. For an existing event, open My events, open an event that you manage, select the three-dot management button, then select Edit and use the participation options in Update Event Details.
Select one participation method when creating an event:
| Option | Use it when |
|---|---|
| RSVP | Community members should join without selecting a ticket. Members see Attend, and participants see Going. |
| Offer tickets | You need one or more attendance categories, capacity limits, or paid admission. |
| External registration link | Registration takes place in another system. Visitors see External registration and leave coapp to register. |
The external registration link is different from an online-event link. The registration link opens the external signup process; an online-event link is shown only to attendees and organizers.
Once an event has active tickets, its participation method cannot be changed to RSVP or external registration from the event editor.
Visibility is configured separately. See Make an event public or community-only, especially when people should participate without first signing in.
