Pay for another member's plan
Use a payer-managed membership when one member or organization should pay for another member's community plan. The payer's membership can include one or more member plans. This is useful when an employer, parent organization, or team contact pays for participants.
Only community administrators can set this up.
Add another member to a payer's membership
- Open Manage > Community > Members.
- Select the member who will pay.
- Open the member's plan or membership area.
- Select a plan if the payer does not already have one.
- Select Pay for another member.
- Search for and select the member whose plan the payer should cover.
- Select Next, choose and configure that member's plan, then select Choose or Save.
- Review the subscription schedule, payment method, proration, and invoice preview.
- Select Assign subscription when creating the membership, or save the changes when updating it.
The membership view lists the members the payer is covering and the plan assigned to each person.
Important limits
- The member you add cannot already have a current or upcoming membership plan. Remove or end that existing plan before adding the member to another person's membership.
- Removing the payer's main membership cancels its related member plans when you save the change.
- Removing a covered member's plan stops the payer's coverage for that member only.
- Use the invoice preview before saving. A plan, schedule, or proration change can create an invoice or affect the next bill.
Change or remove a covered member's plan
- Open the payer's membership in Manage > Community > Members.
- In the [Payer] is paying for list, open the three-dot menu beside the covered member.
- Select Change, Customize, or Remove.
- Review the resulting invoice preview and save the membership update.
