Enable or disable community features
Community admins can use Features in the left sidebar to choose which optional areas members can use. Each switch is saved as soon as you change it, and the member-facing navigation updates immediately.
Use these controls when you want to introduce a new part of the community, temporarily remove an area, or keep the navigation focused on the features your community currently uses.
Manage your community's general settings
Community administrators can also open Manage > Settings > General to maintain information used throughout the community:
- Update Name to change the community name shown to members.
- Enter a Help URL to send members to your external help or support resource.
- Add an Email Footer/Disclaimer when community emails need standard legal or organization information.
- Select Save.
Review links and footer content before saving. These settings affect the member-facing community and outgoing community emails.
Who can manage features
Only community admins can see and use Features. Members do not see this control.
Feature management is available in the web app. On a smaller screen, open the menu button in the top-left corner first to display the sidebar.
Default settings for a new community
A newly created community starts with these feature settings:
| Feature | Default state |
|---|---|
| Channels & Pages | Enabled |
| Events | Enabled |
| Bookings | Disabled |
| Matching | Enabled |
| Market | Disabled |
These defaults apply only when a community is first created. Existing communities keep their current settings, so their feature states may be different. Because Market starts disabled and has been discontinued, new communities do not see a Market switch.
Enable or disable a feature
- Open your community in the web app.
- In the left sidebar, select Features near the bottom of the menu. The Features dialog opens.
- Turn a switch on to enable a feature, or turn it off to disable it.
- Wait for the confirmation that your change was saved.
- Close the dialog when you have finished.
You can also reach the same controls through Manage > Settings > Features.
What each switch controls
| Switch | When enabled | When disabled |
|---|---|---|
| Channels & Pages | Members can find and open channels and pages, use My pages, and create pages when their channel permissions allow it. | Channels and pages are removed from member-facing navigation, search, profiles, and creation menus. Saved links to these areas no longer open for members. Admins can still review existing channels in Manage, but cannot create a channel until the feature is enabled again. |
| Events | Members can find and open events and use event creation or participation options available to them. | Event navigation, event widgets, My events, and member-facing event creation are removed. Saved links to events no longer open. Admins can still manage existing events in Manage, but cannot create a new event until the feature is enabled again. |
| Bookings | Members can open the booking calendar and My bookings, subject to the visibility and booking rules of each resource. | Booking navigation and member-facing booking pages are unavailable. Admins can still configure booking resources in Manage. |
| Matching | Match scores and matching-based sorting help members find relevant people where matching is available. | Match scores and matching-based sorting are hidden. Other community and member information remains available. |
| Market | Existing communities that still have Market enabled can continue to show the marketplace and its creation options. | Market navigation and pages are removed. Because Market has been discontinued, disabling it is permanent and it cannot be enabled again. |
Turning off a feature changes access for the whole community. It does not delete the existing pages, events, booking resources, or other content managed through that feature. When a reversible feature is enabled again, its member-facing navigation and access return according to the existing permissions and settings.
Disable Market
The Market switch appears only when Market is already enabled for your community. If you turn it off, coapp asks you to confirm because the change cannot be undone. Select Confirm only when you are ready to remove Market permanently.
If a change is not saved
If coapp reports that the setting could not be saved, the switch returns to its previous state. Check your connection and try again. If the feature settings do not load at all, reload the page before trying again.
