Manage your community address and custom domain

Every coapp community has a built-in *.coapp.io address. Administrators can change the built-in address when the requested name is available. You can also use an external domain, but its connection is set up with coapp support.

Change the built-in coapp.io address

  1. In the web app, select Manage.
  2. Select Settings, then select Domain.
  3. Under Built-in domain, enter the name you want to use before .coapp.io.
  4. Check the preview and any availability message.
  5. Select Save when the name is valid and available.

Choose the new address carefully and tell members about the change. Update links in emails, websites, and other places where you share the community.

Request an external custom domain

  1. Open Manage > Settings > Domain.
  2. Under Bring own domain, select Contact support.
  3. Tell support the domain you want to use and confirm that you can change its DNS records.

The custom-domain option depends on your plan. If it is not included, coapp shows the available upgrade option instead of opening support.

Do not change DNS records until coapp support gives you the required values and confirms the next step. The team will help coordinate the connection and verify when the domain is ready.

Keep email delivery working with an external domain

Using your own community domain can affect how community emails are recognized by recipient mail systems. During the custom-domain setup, ask support whether you need to add or change DNS records for email authentication. Keep the records supplied by coapp in place and ask support before changing or removing them.

If members report missing community emails after a domain change, ask them to check spam or junk folders and contact support with the affected email address, approximate time, and message type. Do not include passwords or sign-in codes.
