Get started with the coapp API

The coapp API lets you use data created in coapp in other systems. You can share public community events on an external website, use relevant community data in a CRM, or prepare spreadsheet reports.

You can build custom workflows with n8n, Zapier, Make, or an agentic automation tool, as well as with custom code. Depending on your workflow and experience with the tool, you can set up the connection yourself or work with a developer.

Ways to use coapp data

Your goalExample workflow
Show events on a public websiteUse public community events in a custom event listing on your own website or a partner's website.
Keep community data available in a CRMPass the member or membership data your team needs to a third-party CRM. Confirm which data is available for your workflow.
Prepare reports in a spreadsheetTransfer selected community data to a spreadsheet for reporting or further analysis.
Use data in an agentic workflowGive an agent access to selected coapp data to help with a task you define, such as preparing a community report.

These workflows need a connection configured for your chosen tool and destination. The available data and setup requirements depend on the workflow.

If you simply want to show public events on a website, you can also use coapp's ready-made public event list or embed. See Share public events on your website.

Plan your workflow

Before setting up the connection, decide:

  • Which coapp data you need and what you want to achieve with it.
  • Which system should receive the data.
  • Whether you need a one-time export or recurring updates.
  • Who should be able to see the data in the destination system.

For example, an event listing needs to reflect later changes to event details, while a spreadsheet report may only need a snapshot at a particular time. For a CRM, decide how updates should affect existing records so repeated transfers do not create duplicates.

For a public website, use only events and details intended for public visitors. For CRM, spreadsheet, or agentic workflows, select the data needed for the task and choose who can access the results.

Request API access and documentation

Contact sales@coapp.io or use the customer-support chat in the coapp web app. Include:

  • Your community address.
  • The workflow you want to build and the data you need.
  • Your preferred tool, such as n8n, Zapier, Make, or an agentic automation tool.
  • The website or system that should receive the data.

The coapp team can confirm the available options, access requirements, and applicable plan. Detailed technical documentation and connection instructions are provided on request.

For the existing coapp integration in Zapier, see Manage community integrations.

Check the result before running regularly

Start with a small selection of data and check the result in the receiving system. Make sure the information appears in the right place, updates work as expected, and only the intended people can see it. For an agentic workflow, also check that its output matches the task you defined.

If you need help, contact coapp support with your community address, the tool and destination you use, what you expected to happen, and what happened instead.
